New Year

This year, I made resolutions that I never made before: to read more, write more, and cook more.  Cooking, in particular, is the most ambitious resolution, especially since I used to view cooking ask a task relegated to housewives.

But it’s been a wonderful experience thus far.  After reading In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan, I switched to a diet of primarily whole foods.  This has allowed me to learn how to cook with a new food every week.  The food I cook is not food I’ve never eaten before.  Rather, it is food that I’ve never cooked before.

The first week I learned how to make roasted medley potatoes.  Last week, I made a snack of endive & hummus.  This week, I’ll attempt to make grilled eggplants.  An exciting journey so far…
