This year, I made resolutions that I never made before: to read more, write more, and cook more. Cooking, in particular, is the most ambitious resolution, especially since I used to view cooking ask a task relegated to housewives.
But it’s been a wonderful experience thus far. After reading In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan, I switched to a diet of primarily whole foods. This has allowed me to learn how to cook with a new food every week. The food I cook is not food I’ve never eaten before. Rather, it is food that I’ve never cooked before.
The first week I learned how to make roasted medley potatoes. Last week, I made a snack of endive & hummus. This week, I’ll attempt to make grilled eggplants. An exciting journey so far…
